Leonard Simon Nimoy (March 26, 1931 – February 27, 2015) was an American actor, film director, poet, singer and photographer. Nimoy was best known for his role as Spock in the original Star Trek series (1966–69), and in multiple film, television and video game sequels.

Actor Leonard Nimoy, known to generations as Star Trek's Mr. Spock died Friday. He was 83. Nimoy's wife, Susan Bay Nimoy, said the cause of death was end-stage chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, according to the New York Times.

The Boston-born actor played the logical Vulcan science and first officer of the USS Enterprise on the original 1960s TV series and its subsequent movies. He last played Spock in 2013's Star Trek Into Darkness.
